Youngest son of Thomas and Annie Ward of 3a Summerlee Buildings, Coatbridge. Husband of Grace Callaghan Ward of 17 Carrick St, Coatbridge. They were married on the 25/04/07. Father of 4 children. 3 of the children were Annie born on the 25/12/1907, Kate (Catherine) born on the 16/01/1910 and Grace born in 1914 and Mary born on the 25/11/1916. Owen was also the stepfather to Sarah Miller Callaghan born on the 09/07/1905 (see Pension Records) . From the 1891 Census - Address - 3rd Close 8 Castle, Coatbridge - Thomas Ward aged 50, Ann Ward aged 43, John Ward aged 23, Thomas Ward aged 15, Rose A Ward aged 8, Owen Ward aged 7, boarder Hugh Caffery aged 24. From the 1901 Census - Address - 3a Summerlee Buildings, Coatbridge - Thomas Ward aged 60, Annie Ward aged 50, Rose Ann Ward aged 18, Owen Ward aged 17, boarders James Mulgrew aged 23, Hugh Mulgrew aged 20. Owen's Pension was awarded to his wife Grace on the 13/06/1918.

Additional Information

The 6th (Service) Battalion Connaught Rangers arrived in France on the 18/12/1915 and were part of the 47th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division. Owen had been through the Dardanelles with the 5th (Service) Battalion before he was drafted to France. Owen originally enlisted with the Gordon Highlanders (4292) on the 05/09/1914 in Coatbridge. He was discharged on the 03/10/1914 (see Pension Records). Owen's death notice in the Coatbridge Express on the 19/12/1917 was inserted by Mr and Mrs Brady of Portland St, Coatbridge (Brady was Owen's mother's maiden name).
