Peter's Pension was awarded to his mother on the 13/05/1918.

Additional Information

The 412th (2/1st Lowland) Field Company were part of the 52nd (Lowland) Division. In 1917 the Division took part in the following Battles. Peter probably received his wounds at Wadi el Hesi. First Battle of Gaza (26th - 27th March, the Division being in reserve), The Second Battle of Gaza (17th - 19th April), The Third Battle of Gaza (1st - 7th November) and at Wadi el Hesi (8th November). Within the Kantara War Memorial Cemetery stands the Kantara Indian Cemetery Memorial dedicated to the 283 Indian casualties originally buried or commemorated in Kantara Indian Cemetery, which in 1961 was declared unmaintainable. The original Memorial had a general inscription, with the names recorded in a printed Memorial register. In 2000, these names were added to the Memorial. Peter's Grave photo was kindly donated by Mick McCann at the British War Graves website who supply photos FREE OF CHARGE here. Peter is also remembered at the Family Plot in Old Monkland Cemetery (see photos x 2).
