Son of William and Elizabeth Quigley. Husband of Winifred Hendry Quigley (02/03/1880 - ) of 22 Middle Row, Rosehall, Coatbridge. Father of 6 young children, Mary Quigley born 11/06/1901, Thomas Quigley born 23/10/1904, Elizabeth Quigley born 26/09/1906, Winifred Quigley born 20/06/1908, Jane Quigley born 26/12/1911 and Christina Hendry Quigley born 20/12/1914. Christina was born just 9 days after her father died. From the 1891 Census - Address - No 16 Loudoun Rows, Loudoun, Ayrshire - William Quigley aged 39, Elizabeth Quigley aged 36, Bridget Quigley aged 14, Jane Quigley aged 11, William Quigley aged 9, Margaret Quigley aged 7, Catherine Quigley aged 4. From the 1901 Census - Address - 32 Loudoun Rows, Loudoun, Ayrshire - Lizzie Quigley aged 45, William Quigley aged 19, Catherine Quigley aged 14, Thomas Quigley aged 7. William's Pension was awarded to his wife Winifred on the 17/05/1915. Their 6 children are also listed. One of the Pension Records list a Mrs Mary Cannon of 16 Turner St, Dundyvan Rd, Coatbridge and William's 2 children Jane and Christine.

Additional Information

The Battalion were formed at Aberdeen in September 1914 and came under orders of the 44th Brigade, 15th (Scottish) Division. William died of pleurisy, pneumonia, cardiac failure. He died at home on the 11/12/1914 (see Pension Record 1). William enlisted on the 07/09/1914 and was only 1 month with the Regiment. He is NOT LISTED on the CWGC site and I've been unable to find where William is buried. He is also remembered on the St. Mary's Church Roll of Honour.
