Peter and the Battalion arrived in Le Havre on the 20/12/1914 and were part of the 81st Brigade, 27th Division. The 81st Brigade consisted of the following : 1st Battalion Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment), 2nd Gloucestershire Regiment (left for 82nd Brigade November 1916), 2nd Battalion Cameron Highlanders, 1st Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, 1/9th (Highlanders) Battalion Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) (joined February 1915, left November 1915), 81st Machine Gun Company (joined 16th May 1916), 81st Small Arms Ammunition Section Ammunition Column (joined 28th September 1916), 81st Trench Mortar Battery (joined 16th October 1916), 13th (Scottish Horse Yeomanry) Battalion Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) (joined October 1916, left June 1918). The Division took part in the following in 1915. The Action of St. Eloi (under V Corps, 14th - 15th March), the Second Battle of Ypres (under V Corps), in phases : the Battle of Gravenstafel (22nd - 23rd April), the Battle of St. Julien (24th April ' 4th May), the Battle of Frezenberg (8th - 13th May) and the Battle of Bellewaarde (24th - 25th May).
