Killed in Action on the 20/07/1918 at the Battle of the Tardenois (part of the Battles of the Marne 1918)

Peter was with the 9th (Service) Battalion Gordon Highlanders (S/21906) on the 01/04/1918 and on the 05/04/1918 he was transferred to the 1/4th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders who were part of the 154th Brigade, 51st (Highland) Division. Peter was Killed in Action on the opening day of the Battle of the Tardenois, 20th - 31st July 1918. From the History of the 51st (Highland) Division : "At 08.00am the artillery barrage opened and the advance began, the 4th Seaforth Highlanders leading on the right, and the 6th Black Watch on the left. Nor had the battle long been in progress before it became evident that the enemy, so far from retiring from this position of the front, was holding onto his position with great determination".
