Arthur was killed in an accident at the Depot at Stirling Castle on the 03/09/1914 with his neck broken, skull fractured and his left thigh bone dislocated (see Arthur's Service Records regarding a Report by the Procurator Fiscal in Stirling). This was just 2 days after enlisting in Coatbridge and his 1st day at Stirling Castle via Hamilton Barracks. Arthur is NOT listed by the CWGC and has no Medal Index Card. He is also remembered on the St. Mary's Church Roll of Honour (see photos). See photos for Airdrie (St. Joseph's) R.C. Cemetery, 'Ladies Lookout' at Stirling Castle (where Arthur fell), his Army Register of Soldiers Effects, his Pension Record x 3, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Cap Badge and Arthur's Service Records x 17. Arthur's Grave inscription reads "R.I.P".
