John Campbell Baillie

John's Machine Gun Corps Company was formed in the 27th Division on the 16/05/1916. They were part of the 82nd Brigade. The 27th Division was ordered to Salonika in November 1915 and embarkation began on the 17th November, but it was not until the 13th February 1916 that the last units of the Division finally arrived. John left Devonport on the 20/09/1916 and arrived in Salonika on the 02/10/1916. He joined the 82nd Company in the field on the 14/10/1916. The 82nd Infantry Brigade of the 27th Division fought in the Battle of Tumbitza Farm on the 17th November and 6th - 7th December 1916 and the capture of Homondos on the 14th October 1917. John was formerly with the Scottish Horse (6122). He is also remembered on the Co-Op Roll of Honour (see photos).
