Patrick Gray

Died at home from Pneumonia on the 14/10/1918. Discharged 1918

On the 24 October 1917 the 8th Battalion amalgamated with 9th Battalion to form 8/9th Battalion. On the 10th February 1918 the Battalion disbanded in France, troops going to the Regiment's 1st and 2nd Battalions, with others to 269 Company of the Machine Gun Corps and numbers 1 and 2 Companies of the 20th Entrenching Battalion. Patrick originally enlisted in the 5th Battalion. He joined the 8th Battalion in the fields of France on the 09/06/1916. The Battalion were part of the 48th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division. Patrick died of pneumonia at home on the 14/10/1918. He is NOT LISTED WITH THE CWGC. Patrick's Pension Record states he was discharged after suffering impairment since entry into service. Discharge date is listed as 14/12/1918 (see Pension Record 3). Date of death is given as 14/10/1918 (see Will records and Army Register of Soldiers Effects).
