Theodore and his elder brother Robert originally enlisted in the Horse Artillery in 1914. Theodore and the 5th (Service) Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers embarked at Liverpool and sailed to Gallipoli via Mudros landing at Suvla Bay on the 07/08/1915. They were part of the 31st Brigade, 10th (Irish) Division. In October 1915 they moved via Mudros to Salonika. The 5th and the 6th Battalion The Royal Irish Fusiliers, with the 31st Brigade in Lemnos recovering from recent action on the Gallipoli front, were embarked for the 10th (Irish) Division's deployment to Salonika and arrived complete, after some delays, in Salonika by late October. Divisional HQ embarked at Liverpool on the 9th July, and by the end of the month most units had assembled on Lemnos. On the 6th - 7th August 1915 the Division landed at Suvla Bay, less the 29th Infantry Brigade which went to ANZAC Cove. The main body made an attack on Chocolate Hill on the 7th/8th August. Parts of 29th Infantry Brigade took part in actions on Sari Bair on the 6th - 10th August and at Hill 60 later that month. On the 29th September 1915 the Division withdrew from Gallipoli and moved to Mudros. On 4th - 5th October it went on to Salonika, landing there 5th - 10th October. Took part on the 7th and 8th December 1915 in the action at Kosturino during the retreat from Serbia. Theodore was discharged from the Army on the 09/06/1916 through sickness. He died at home. I personally laid a Poppy at Theodore's Grave on the 27/03/2022 (Mother's Day).
