The Battalion arrived at Le Havre as Army Troops on the 14/08/1914. On the 05/09/1914 they joined the 1st Brigade,1st Division. Oliver arrived in France on the 03/11/1915. The Second Battles of Arras, 26th August - 3rd September 1918 : First and Third Armies attack successful from Arras and break the German Drocourt-Queant Line. Oliver was Killed in Action at the Battle of Drocourt-Queant on the 03/09/1918. This was part of Operations : breaking of the Hindenburg Line, 26 August - 12 October 1918. SEE PHOTOS x 31 FOR THE BATTALION WAR DIARY 16th AUGUST - 8th SEPTEMBER 1918. The Battalion War Diary on the 03/09/1918 states - "In support to 12th Brigade Canadians at DURY. At 5.30 p.m. moved up and took over from 4th British Division along SENSEE River. Battalion in support to Black Watch and took up position in DROCOURT-QUEANT LINE. Move forward was seen and Battalion came under burst of shelling. Casualties 7 Wounded, 1 Missing, 4 Gassed".
