The Battalion arrived at Boulogne in May 1915 and were part of the 26th Brigade, 9th (Scottish) Division. John was Killed in Action near Fontaine Houck. 5 Other Ranks also fell with 3 more wounded on the 02/08/1918. The Division took part in the following : Battles of the Somme 1918 - the Battle of St. Quentin, 21st - 23rd March 1918 and the First Battle of Bapaume, 24th - 25th March 1918. Battles of the Lys - the Battle of Messines, 10th - 11th April 1918, the Battle of Bailleul, 13th - 15th April 1918, the First Battle of Kemmel, 17th - 19th April 1918 and the Second Battle of Kemmel, 25th - 26th April 1918. The Advance in Flanders in which the Division captured the Outtersteene Ridge. The Final Advance in Flanders in which the Division fought in the Battle of Courtrai and the action of Ooteghem.
